Kino Cove LLC ("Kino Cove," "we," "us") makes a household resilience app. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Kino Cove LLC, a California limited liability company. Questions about this policy or your information: info@kinocove.com.
What we collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password. Authentication is handled by Supabase, our backend provider. We do not collect a name, phone number, or payment details at signup.
Information you enter to build your resilience plan. The app works by letting you record details about your household so it can tailor guidance. Depending on what you choose to enter, this can include:
Your name and the names of household members
Home and work addresses
Phone numbers for household members and emergency contacts
ZIP code
Pets, evacuation and rally points, and circle-of-care contacts
Health-related information you choose to record, including blood type, medications, medical conditions, allergies, and access needs
Insurance details you choose to record, including provider names and policy numbers
You decide what to enter. Most fields are optional. Health and insurance details exist so your household plan and medical-info records are useful to you in a disruption; you are never required to provide them to use the app.
Location. The app uses your ZIP code to retrieve local hazard and weather information. The app requests your device's precise location only when you choose to tag a document in the Valuables Vault with its location; this does not happen in the background and does not happen unless you initiate it.
Documents and media. Photos and documents you add to the Valuables Vault are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to our servers.
Diagnostic information. On the web version, we use PostHog to capture errors and crashes so we can keep the app working. This is configured to create a profile only for identified events and is used for reliability monitoring rather than advertising or behavioral tracking.
How your information is stored and synced
The household details you enter are saved on your device and backed up to your private account in our Supabase database so you can restore them if you change devices. Each account's data is isolated by row-level security, meaning your records are only accessible to your signed-in account. Valuables Vault media stays on your device and is not part of this backup.
How we use information
To build and save your household resilience plan and records
To show local hazard, weather, and disaster information for your area
To let you back up and restore your data across devices
To send app-related communications you have asked for
To keep the app reliable and fix errors
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for third-party advertising.
Third parties that help run the app
We share information only as needed to operate the app. We do not control the privacy practices of these public data services.:
Supabase — account authentication and secure storage of your backed-up data
PostHog — error and reliability monitoring (web)
Public data services we query for hazard information using your ZIP or its coordinates: the National Weather Service (weather.gov), FEMA (OpenFEMA and a public fire feed), Zippopotam.us (ZIP-to-coordinates lookup), and the OpenStreetMap Overpass service (to find nearby facilities). These queries send location coordinates derived from your ZIP, not your identity.
Your choices and rights
You can edit or delete the information in your profile within the app at any time. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting info@kinocove.com.
Because Kino Cove LLC is based in California, California residents have specific rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including rights to know, delete, and correct personal information, and rights regarding sensitive personal information (which includes the health and precise-location data described above).
Children: The app is intended for adults managing a household and is not directed to children under 13.
Data retention: We keep your backed-up data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete the associated data.
Changes to this policy: We will update this policy as the app changes and revise the date above. Material changes will be communicated in the app.
